FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is the difference between a 1-day and an 8-day cuckoo clock?
Black Forest Cuckoo Clocks are driven by a mechanical movement which is run by weights under the clocks. To keep them working, you have to pull up the weights. With 8-day cuckoo clocks you have to do this once a week, with 1-day cuckoo clocks you have to do this once every 24 hours.

What wood is used in making the cuckoo clock?
The cuckoo clocks are made from Linden Tree. The heart-shaped leaved Linden trees are common in Europe. Their wood is excellent for carvings.

What maintenance do cuckoo clocks need?
To keep cuckoo clocks in excellent running condition, they should be cleaned and oiled by a clockmaker each 6 to 8 years. Cuckoos run best when hung in areas that are not dusty, humid, or too cold (temperature should not fall below 32ºF = 0ºC).

How do you unpack the cuckoo clock?
Follow the instructions enclosed with the cuckoo clock very carefully. If the clock does not work, check the following points:

1. Have you removed the clamps from the bellows inside the clock as described in the instructions?

2. Have you unlocked the cuckoo's door? To do this, you must turn a little wire to the side that secures the door while shipping.

3. The most common reason why the cuckoo and music do not work is because they have been turned off. Check the position of the night shut-off. With some clocks the night shut off is a switch located to the left side of the clock. With other cuckoos, it is a wire under the clock.

How do you adjust a clock that runs too fast or too slow?
The pendulum is responsible for making the clock keep time. If your clock runs too fast, you can move the pendulum-slide down a little on the pendulum to correct this. If the clock is running to slow, you have to move the pendulum-slide up.

What if the clock stops?
The clock must be placed in the correct vertical position so that the pendulum-slide can swing freely. If it has stopped, make sure that the cuckoo clock is adjusted properly on the wall.

Do not adjust the clock with your eyes, do it with your ears. You must listen to the clock and make sure that it has an even "tick-tock" sound. This is adjusted by moving the clock to the right or left, until you hear an even "tick-tock."

Improper Handling
Please read instructions first before you take the clock out of the box. Make sure that the nail or screw will be able to support the weight of the clock (no picture hangers, drive nail into stud). Do not take the clock out by grabbing it by the carvings and never turn the clock upside down once you have removed the chain restraining wire. This will cause the chains to slip of the wheel, which is not covered by the warranty.
